Merry Christmas

The year seems to have flown by and it’s strange to already have ZigZag safely moored for the winter. With just a short time in Finike marina before a planned trip back to the UK, we soon got used to marina life again.

There are lots of social events arranged including a Friday happy hour, Sunday barbecue, exercise classes, walking groups, boat jumbles, coffee mornings and craft afternoons, it didn’t take long to meet some of our fellow liveaboards.

Outside of the marina, Finike is a small traditional commercial town in a market garden area. It is well known for its citrus fruits due to its mild climate. One of the highlights of the week is the huge farmers market where you can find an abundance of fresh fruit and veg, meats, cheeses, olives, clothes and other locally sourced products. It is a short walk from the boat and was easy to find as there was a steady stream of people leaving the marina with their shopping trolleys, heading that way.

There are some stalls along the side of the market serving cooked food where we met up with some friends for a breakfast Gözleme (pancake) to build ourselves up for a large fruit and veg shopping adventure. Choosing the right filling for your Gözleme is serious business!

It was soon time to leave Turkey and we are now back in the UK to spend Christmas and the new year with friends and family.

A big thank you to everyone for continuing to read our blog this year and for the lovely comments, we always look forward to hearing from you. There will not be any posts for a few weeks until we return back to Ziggy. Remember, if you haven’t already done so, register to receive email updates and you will be notified when the next post is published.

We would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and best wishes for 2023. Until next time, I’ll leave you with a few more photos of Finike and the marina.

Pancake fillings should be a very considered choice so it is right Paul is taking his time with this. Love the photos, especially the turtle! Merry Christmas 🎄 🎅xx
